The kernel or the grub?  Those are two different things.

The grub config file is in /boot/grub/grub.conf or sometimes menu.1st.

The kernel is a whole different thing.  We need more info on what you want to do.

hey man..

You have asked question that "How to configure grub manualy"

If you say to configure kernel .. then u mean to "recompile kernel"

and to edit grub config.. just modify grub configuration file..

If it is about recompiling kernel then ask this question in Kernel section.
And plz do tell us wht is this qestion about so that it can be moved to appropriate place ..
