Title: User creation Problem in Redhat 9

When i want to add a user in Redhat 9 just like "redhat.linux"
Then linux give me error like  dont use a punctuations in user name field.
In redhat 8 it is possible, so please help me out in this matter

Hi Ricky,

Due to our organisation requirement , we haqve to create username with the format as :

firstname.lastname

But one thing I found that the above format works successfully in Redhat 8.0, but it doesn't work in Redhat 9.0 & onwards. Kindly provide a solution & any help would be greatly appreciated.

R u adding the users in the sheel or GUI mode?

If the shell mode, u might want to try :

useradd "redhat.linux"

Hello,
But when i type useradd and username with .        then it gives me error of dont use pachunation in username, this error is in from redhat 9.
