Title: DNS Domain
Post by: sathish on November 27, 2004, 02:36:12 PM
Hello Linux team !!

My distro is REDHAT 9.0, we have registered our domain in a company name through one of my friends, and he launched at his system, now I am having a STATIC IP in my office, & I want to launch from my system. Now my question is ??

1) Is I should tell my friend to stop that server in his system that is running [www.xyz.com] ??

2) If I launch from my system. What are the details to be taken from him to launch from my system.

Plz help me out..

Thanks in advance.........

If you are talking about using ur office server as nameserver for that domain then if you want to host its site on ur computer ie host that domain at office then you have to set up a dns server at ur office then configure it to host ur domain, now after that you have to change the nameserver address in your domain cpanel to ur IP ie where u are runing DNS for that domain then only it will be resolved through ur computer.
So if you want to host domain at ur office then first change ip to ur DNS in the domain cpanel.
