Creating and Deploying Dual/Triple Boot OS W2K/XP/Linux
« on: January 05, 2005, 11:44:32 PM »
Hello,

I am trying to locate an Image/Deploy Utility, similar to Symantec Ghost, that will support creating and deploying Dual and Triple boot OS of Windows 2000 Pro, Windows XP Pro, and Linux Corporate v7.3

So far from my search, Symantec Ghost does not support, triple boot that includes Linux.

Please advise if you know of any software out there that are available.

Thanks,
Vinh Le

Hi Ricky,

Yes I am trying to find out if other than Symantec Ghost, are there any other software that provide the capability of cloning dual and triple boot OS configurations.

Here at VMware, we have both dual boot and triple boot environments.  They range from either Windows 2000 Pro, Windows XP Pro, and Linux Redhat operating system.  I am working on creating base images for dual and triple boot configuration for backup and deployment purposes.

I have found that Symantec Ghost does not support triple boot at this time.  AND that they only support ghosting Linux, if and only if, Linux is the only operating system.  AND they support dual boot cloning under certain Windows and Linux version operating system.

Hi Ricky, thanks for the recommendation.

Sorry for the late delay. Cracking my head on getting my 2.6.10 kernel to work with SMP support.

Hi VinhLe68,

Yes, to do this in linux, it's possible if u use SytemsrescueCD. Go get the iso and get ready with ur backup server if u wish to do backup on another pc ( it is highly recommended).

Make sure u read carefully the FAQ, to see whether everything suits u fine.

IMPORTANT: U must ascertain that i works well on ur Linux Distro version.

Go here. The rest i leave to u to explore. Have fun :)
