« on: November 28, 2005, 08:21:23 AM »
Hello All..

Can we block yahoo messenger  and any other service like ftp, telnet using TRANSPARENT PROXY...????

If yes..then  how ? ...and if no then it means we have to use iptables for that....

But tell me that configraation through SUSE not REDHAT..I already know how to block yahoo meaasenger in REDHAT..So if anyone knows it in SUSE using   rcSuSEfirewall, then plzz let me know...

I have not used SUSE (uptill now you are aware of it )
But if you want then block all ports using susefirewall and on iptables as in transparent proxy I Have provided we do port forwarding for every port but only redirect port 80 to squid so it means all other port are directly accessible via NAT . either redirect all ports to squid then you can block them by editing squid.conf, otherwise block then using iptables ie. susefirewall.

As i have said earlier ..that ..in SUSE we  have to use rcSuSeFirewall file ... but in that file i don't know how to block yahoo messenger ...means i tried to block the ports i.e 5000:5010 but can't able to block..and the iptables command which u have written in this form didn't help me out for SUSE
