Installing new NIC driver in linux

I have a network card (RTL 8139d), but I installed it after I installed my Ubuntu 6.10
Now that card doesn't appear in the 'Networking' window... wht can i do?
I am not using it, so no big hurry in replying..

Hi. this topic has been splitted as it was totally different from last one.
The thing is that, 8139-d comes with linux driver, look for CD came with it and also contains instructions that how to compile and install .
