changing linux client password on ldap configured machine

LDAP server is configured on RHEL-5.2. user can logged in to his linux client box. when uer try to change its password using ldappasswd command, it gets error "ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: No such attribute (16)".
Any idea what is the problem.....
