« on: April 20, 2004, 11:41:05 AM »
I've configured sendmail to send mail, but now I have to configure sendmail to recive mail. It's small domain with a few workstation and one Win2000 server(AD,DNS not registred on net) + Linux RH 9.0 Squid proxy. We use ppp connection and recive mail from local ISP.

10Q :)!

U don't have to configure anything, just need to start the POP3 service.

1. Type "setup" in ur console.

2. Goto "system services"

3. Check the pop3 services needed if u r using pop3. I think u r using POP3 to receive mail right?

I know that is POP3 protocol to receive mail and I have been starting ipop3 service.
but when I want to receive mail from ISP through proxy to client machine I receive message "POP3 server could not be found bla bla bla ....". Server name is ok.

Then, i think u better consult ricky on how to enable squid to open the port for POP3 mail retrieval.

He's the Squid guru here. :)

Well.. port 110 is always open in squid.. see its conf file.. Btw.. wht is the domain.. ie.. are you downloading mails from ISP mail server or want to receive them on your inhouse hosted domain from internet. ? If you are downlaoding from ISP's pop server then u don't need to configure sendmail.. the mail client will automatically fetch them..

OK, forget my local domain, I want to configure my proxy-mail server to download all mail from my ISP's in clients mailbox (on proxy-mail server) and than when local client wants they can takeover mail. I tried to configure clients machine to takeover mail directly from ISP but I receive a message "POP3 server could not be found ...".

Do you think that I need to configure pop3 server like IMAP-4.5 or something like that.

10Q :D !

I've found some doc. about fetchmail but I don't know how to configure it.
I tried but only I can view version number 6.2.0-3, that's all. I don't have any conf file or something that.
