Sometimes there are bugs in the installer on specific hardware. I can remember that Mandrake 9.1 had some issues with my hardware. You may want to go to the website, Redhat, Mandrake or whatever it is, and see if there are any listed there.
You may also want to unplug and USB or firewire devices. I even had to unplug my HP printer that was on a parallel port.
It is very likely that it sees some piece of hardware that it can't figure out what it is. Remove that and it should continue on.
There can of course be something else that will be posted. Someone may post that has ran into the exact same thing and found a fix.
You may want to post what your hardware is. That may help. Also, is it Redhat, Mandrake or what distro are you using.
