Wht do you mean by host command with server name ??
Is it server in LAN or over internet.

Also tell me do u check any working domain on internet or your own configured domain ?

Try showing the following files Mate:

1. Your reverse lookup zone file
2. Your forward lookup zone file
3. /etc/named.conf
4. Your /var/log/message to display the error in your config.

Are u trying to configure a DNS Server that works for:

1. Public
2. Your LAN
