i tried to enable framebuffer inorder to install directfb,following the steps given in the webpage

but got the kernelpanic error sayg
"kernel panic-not syncing:attempted to killinit!"
what should be done

The link you gave deals with LILO in the end. Most probably you do not have LILO as GRUB is standard now.
I assume you have know how of kernel recompiling. You need to append proper info to grub.
