Easiest to install for a beginner with an old system
« on: December 01, 2009, 12:14:17 PM »
Is there any place to find the minimum system requirements for the various os offered?  I keep looking but have been unable to find.  I have in the past purchased install discs for two linux systems (ubuntu and freespire) and have not been able to install either.  The ubuntu disc indicates that my bios does not meet their requirements but no understanding of why the freespire disc does not work.  I am a newbie and am looking to install linux on an old machine primarily for surfing the web.  Is there a system which is easy to install and works on older pcs?

We require more details of your hardware to resolve the issue.

Linux is made to be worked with minimal hardware configuration.

You can choose any live CD media download from http://distrowatch.com. That will help you to find whether your machine support linux or not.
