I've been seeing 'redhat linux' what is redhat?

To put it short, it is a Linux distro that is geared toward commercial applications and for those who need well tested installs.  Also, they offer paid tech support for when there is a bug, security problem or other assistance is needed to maintain the install. 

For a normal user, I wouldn't recommend Redhat.  If you need something like Redhat, try Mandriva.  Mandriva is more user oriented, pretty well tested and has user based support, forums and such.  I started out with Mandrake which changed its name to Mandriva.  It is a OK distro.  Updates are not very frequent but most likely more often than Redhat.  The install is pretty easy too, it's GUI based.
