Client can see internet but can't access mail hub
« on: June 12, 2004, 11:45:50 AM »
Hi,
I have a Linux box that connects to my ISP. When the box is connected it runs fetchmail and sendmail and pulls the mail down onto it.
I want two client PC's to access their e-mail off the Linux box. They can see the internet thru Squid proxy but I need help in setting up Netscape and Outlook to find the Linux box.
Any pointers to help me solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ruzzell

I had the same problem and I resolved with this:

This settings put in .fetchmailrc file on Linux and all users have to user account on it!

user "%username ISP%" is "%localuser%" - on Server Linux
password "%password ISP%" - password for remote mailbox

In the Outlook put this:
Accounts > Mail tab > Linux properties > Servers tab >

incoming mail: LINUX
outgoing mail: LINUX

account name: %username% on LINUX
password: %password% on LINUX
