Hi Ricky,

Due to our organisation requirement , we haqve to create username with the format as :

firstname.lastname

But one thing I found that the above format works successfully in Redhat 8.0, but it doesn't work in Redhat 9.0 & onwards. Kindly provide a solution & any help would be greatly appreciated.

R u adding the users in the sheel or GUI mode?

If the shell mode, u might want to try :

useradd "redhat.linux"

Hope it works
