Author Topic: problem squid die on restarting modem (Read 10189 times)

some times when i disconected from isp or slow speed i restart my modm/router

and after that my squid cache didnt work

i can see and connect webmin
and there squid show it is running but no browsing from client side

i have to stop and restart squid

did u no any thing help full that squid never stop working on restart of modem or disconnected isp"

it stay and on and start browsing when ever i get connected to isp

Umm. can you give m last few lines of cache.log ? then I will be able to suggest anything.

this is cache.log
it shows it is working even if i try restart it say squid proccess is running and id is so & so
but no browsing until you stop and restart the squid
if restart i lose all ipcache

dear ricky see this this peer is down and if i didnt stop and restart squid for ten days it stay same but if i restart it will be UP
i want this will be UP without restart squid
how it will reconnect automaticly

Here you can use

squid -k reconfigure
It will not restart the squid but will reconfigure and hence will also reconnect to peer. BTW.. I am not sure if it causes loss of ipcache or not.

dear RICKY
i think still you didnt understand my problem

it will start if i restart my squid box same as reconfigure -k

but may be the isp parent will go down after five minutes and it come up after half houre
did i must restart my squid box again
or as u say reconfigure -k after every time my isp cache stop
it stop ten times in 24 hours
and the squid try for the given time and declare it dead after declare dead the isp cache start again but my squid is unable to connect it because it declare it dead
i have to restart my squid box -or squid/stop squid/start
to connect my isp cache

can you tell me if "-k reconfigure" reset your ipcache or not !

yes it reset and lost all cached
