2 questions for a desperate n00b.
« on: September 05, 2005, 01:17:22 AM »
Hey. Well I downloaded Red Hat 9.0 and.. well for some reason whenever I boot from the cd it shows a black dos screen. I know this means either A:) this is suppose to happen (probably not) B:) I burnt it wrong.

It was in one big .iso file that showed a "winrar" logo, you know since winrar opens .iso files.

What should I do to make it atleast show the damn installation...

Also I wasted a bunch of cd's. Is there anyway I can burn them all into 1 dvd? thank you all for your patience since I know dealing with n00bs can be frusterating.

Jappo.

hmm..

whenever you download a file (big files) then mostly those people provide you md5sum or sha1sum and many other type of algo to check the integrity of that file.

Those are few strings and those are posted on the site which are providing the download. After download you have to calcuate that string for your downloaded file using some programs and if both are same then your file is good to use.

You can use search engines to find many programess to calculate that.
So that way you will be sure that the stuff you are downloading is not the problem.

Secondly ! can you give me your hardware configuration ?

BTW  , there are DVD images also available to download.

ok give me a link to a dvd iso for RED HAT 9. I dont want federo, or 8, or anyother bull crap, 9. lol.

My configuration?
I dont know, windows xp home, 2.0 ghz, 700 something mb ram, 120 gb hard drive for slave and 60 gb for master, AMD Sempron,

now, I use Nero 6, I think... and it is disapointing. I just tried VIRTUAL PC. And whenever I boot it, it works great, until this: (screen shot below)
