sound doesnt work in pcq linux..

Sound doesnt work properly in my pcq linux system, what is the solution for that.
what are the file in linux for sound configuration, please send details.

basically I found that in Pcq linux there is sound card detected properly and also right modules are loaded but by default the sound is set to mute.
in gnome or KDE navigate to sound mixer or volume control and see if it muted or not, increase sound volume.
Also disable any startup sound with KDE or gnome (do it via their configuration panels resp.)
