upgrading to redhat ES 4
« on: March 16, 2006, 09:27:22 AM »
Hi,

I am using redhat 9 along with windows XP, i am planning to upgrade from RedHat 9 to ES 4.  I have a few questions:

I have four cd's of RedHat ES4 version.

1. Can anyone give me a step by step to upgrade i am fairly new to linux. Is it possible to just upgrade?, i dont want to reinstall.

2. will all the software which i have installed previously(on redhat 9) still be there if i upgrade.

3. I am especially confused about partitions(boot, swap etc), please help.

Thanks & Regards,
Christopher.

As far as I know , if you are running RH9 then upgrading will be breeze, just POPin the CDs and look for upgrade option, rest is automated or guided.
