I want to record onto my Computer some of the Discovery shows on TV.
Can anyone tell me where I could start ? I don't know: I have no video capture card.. so kindly give me information about a good video capture card.

It depends upon your budget, in India , entry level video card costs around Rs. 2000 I think.
And a pinnacle card costing around Rs. 4000 can be a good deal considering quality. I am not sure if it has support for linux too.
